The Mondial is over and it’s suddenly very quiet in Les 2 Alpes. Despite a few downpours and overcast skies, it was a great event and enjoyed by all, especially Brit MTB stars Sam Pilgrim and Grant Fielder, who chatted to me on Saturday afternoon. The weather in Les 2 Alpes today is pretty miserable. When I woke this morning the resort was wrapped in cloud and it was impossible to see across the road. The clouds have lifted to about 2100m now but it’s very grey and chilly. The trails are damp and it’s snowing on the glacier but there are still lots of MTB enthusiasts out and about.

After the endurance riders proved their worth in yesterday’s Mavic Free Trail competition, today was the day for the freestylers. Les 2 Alpes‘ MTB festival – the Mondial du VTT – attracts some of the best riders in Europe and I spent the afternoon hanging out with Britain’s top guys, Sam Pilgrim and Grant Fielder.
